Roman bronze hippopotamus: two centuries after Christ

Hippos spend most of the day in the water.
Mother hippo and baby
This baby was named "Bunny" because it was born on Easter morning. Bunny is now grown and lives at another zoo.

The hippos are fed in the afternoon. This would be the best time to see them out of the water.

It was Joanna allowed by the Zoo in Emmen (Holland) to feed the Hippopotamuses.
